Check out this 3 monitor surround setup from Matrox. It's the TripleHead2Go with World of Warcraft. I saw this and thought it was so cool. It really adds to the game play and immersion into the game.

How much did that cost him ? >.o

I'm not really sure. I think the Matrox part was under $300. I'm sure the monitors were $700 or so. It does not require 3 monitors to be exactly the same though. It just looks better when it is.

I do know that not every game is supported. Part of the issue is that the game has to be able to do extreme resolutions. For this he has 3 1024x768 screens. So it needs to be able to do 3072x768. For games that do not support this Matrox provides some tools.

For AoC who knows if it will go that high or not.

So you can see more of the surrounding area with this setup than you could with say a 1680x1050 setup? Is it possible to even put 4 or 5 monitors and see more? Seems like if it works a certain way it could really offer an unfair advantage.

He has a pretty nice setup. I recently build a new gaming comp (9800 gx2 / e8400) with dual 24" monitors (upgraded from 19"s) and I have a bit of experience with different types of dual monitor WoW configurations.

One of my favorite mods that makes this easier is viewport, it lets you change what part the rendered area of wow takes up, allowing some areas blanked off for UI. For example when I had dual 19s basically all that was on the left monitor was my character and my bars, on the right monitor there was no rendered game but just UI (expanded chat windows, larger damage meters, map, etc...)

Although ultimately I found it nicer leaving the right window out of game for things like wowhead, IMs, videos, news, email etc... Now with the substantially larger resolution of my 24"s (1920x1200) its much more tolerable having my UI on the same screen, 1280x1024 on a 19" gets to feel a bit restrictive tho.

That would be crazy! You would need to run 4 cars for that probably. I'm sure even WoW taxes the system like crazy.

what stand was he using? im thinking of building a system to do this, with 4 gigs 1066 mhz ram and crossfire sapphire hd 4850's. i have an amd phenom 9950 black 2.6 ghz quad core on it too, just to be safe ^^
